Pocket SPECTROSCOPE with adjustable focus
Focusing Prism Spectroscope
A focusing prism spectroscope, a tool for gemologists to analyze gemstones by separating light into its spectrum of colors.
This type of spectroscope allows the user to adjust the focus to observe the absorption lines caused by the stone, aiding in the identification of natural vs. synthetic gems or colored diamonds.
This spectroscope is based on the principle of diffraction. Here light is diffracted by a thin film of diffraction grating material after it enters through a narrow slit.
A light source is needed to use the instrument.
Both rough and cut gemstones can be examined using a spectroscope.
